Melanie’s primary focus is nurturing creativity in others. Melanie has her BA in Art Education from Appalachian State University and has taught for over 30 years in the classroom, various workshops and demonstrations, and as an educator for the Asheville Art Museum. As a former potter-resident at The Village Potters in Asheville, NC, Melanie remains teaching on-going classes and workshops there.

Surface Design Silk Screen Magic

Mondays September 21 - October 26
This class is designed twofold; Independent Study for the seasoned hand builder and directed instruction for the beginner.
Melanie will begin each class with demonstration of exciting surface design techniques that can then be applied to the pots you make.
Students will learn how to use their own drawings, other designs and graphics to create multiple transfers that can be applied to both green ware and bisque ware, giving the ceramic student a wonderful surface technique option to add to their “repertoire!” By adding porcelain colored slips and stains, students will experience even more “magic” to the endless possibilities! Many potters have discovered their unique voice in clay in this class.
