ABOUT PEARLMAX STUDIOS

PearlMax Studios is a private pottery studio located in West Asheville, nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Opened in 2019, PearlMax houses the studios of Melanie Mitchell Robertson and Tracy Kahn Hawkins, both alumni of The Village Potters, located in Asheville's River Arts District.

Melanie and Tracy met at The Village Potters in 2016 where Tracy was a student of the ISM Advanced Program and Melanie was a resident potter and teacher of surface design techniques. Tracy spent 18 months studying with Melanie and during that time a friendship flourished. As Tracy's 3 year term at The Village Potters was completing, Melanie's residency was also ending. A need, an opportunity, and a shared philosophy existed for mentor and student to come together as friends and partners to open PearlMax Studios, a creative space that leads with love for the craft, for exploration, for inspiration, and, most importantly, for pure joy!!
